Who We Are
Furniture by UCD is a Mumbai based studio and atelier specialising in bespoke solid wood furniture for residential, commercial, and hospitality projects across India. When you use our website, or send emails and other electronic communications to us from your desktop or mobile device, you are communicating with us electronically. By doing so, you consent to receive replies from us electronically in the same format, and you may retain copies of these communications for your records. You agree that any agreements, notices, disclosures, and other communications we provide to you electronically will satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.
Care of Your Furniture
Every piece made at Furniture by UCD is crafted from seasoned, kiln-dried solid wood and finished with care. Like all natural materials, solid wood responds to its environment. Simple, consistent care will preserve the beauty and integrity of your furniture for decades.
For routine cleaning, wipe surfaces with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry immediately. Avoid abrasive cloths, rough sponges, or chemical-based cleaning agents, as these can damage polished and lacquered surfaces. PU and melamine finishes are best maintained with a dry microfibre cloth; natural oil-finished pieces benefit from an occasional re-application of the same or a compatible wood oil to keep the surface nourished.
Protect your furniture from prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, as this can cause gradual fading or surface discolouration. Avoid placing pieces near air-conditioning vents, radiators, or open windows where sudden changes in temperature and humidity can cause the wood to expand, contract, or develop surface movement over time. Solid wood is a living material and minor seasonal movement is normal and expected, it is not a defect.
Always use coasters, mats, or trivets beneath hot vessels, glasses, or any object that may scratch, stain, or retain heat. Do not allow water or liquids to sit on the surface. In the event of a spill, blot gently and dry the surface promptly.
For upholstered pieces, vacuum fabric surfaces periodically using a low-suction attachment. Spot-clean stains with a lightly damp cloth and allow to air-dry fully. Avoid steam cleaning or soaking the upholstery. Leather and vegan leather surfaces should be wiped with a clean, dry cloth; condition leather periodically with a product appropriate for its finish.
Metal components finished with PU coating or PVD should be wiped clean and kept dry. Avoid contact with harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
For any restoration, re-polishing, or repair requirements, we recommend contacting our team directly at connect@furniturebyucd.com rather than approaching a third-party service provider, as incorrect intervention may void your warranty.
Warranty
Furniture by UCD stands behind the quality of every piece we make. All bespoke furniture manufactured and delivered by us is covered under a one-year structural warranty from the date of delivery and installation.
This warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use, including structural failure of wooden frames, joint failure, and hardware malfunction. If a covered defect arises within the warranty period, we will assess the piece and carry out the necessary repair or rectification at no charge to you.
The warranty does not cover damage resulting from misuse, negligence, unauthorised repair or modification, exposure to extreme conditions such as direct sunlight or excessive moisture, normal wear and tear, or any condition arising from failure to follow our care guidelines. Fabric, leather, and surface finishes are excluded from the structural warranty but are covered for manufacturing defects reported within 30 days of delivery.
To raise a warranty claim, please write to us at connect@furniturebyucd.com with your order reference, a brief description of the issue, and photographs of the concern. Our team will respond within five working days to assess and schedule the appropriate next steps.
No Returns
All furniture manufactured by Furniture by UCD is made to order, designed and produced specifically for each client in accordance with an agreed brief, material selection, and spatial requirements. Because every piece is bespoke and custom-fabricated, we do not accept returns under any circumstances once production has commenced.
We strongly encourage all clients to review and confirm design drawings, material samples, dimensions, and finish selections in full before signing off on the project brief. Any changes requested after production has begun may be accommodated at our discretion and will be subject to additional charges and revised timelines.
In the unlikely event that a piece arrives with a manufacturing defect or damage caused during transit, please notify us within 48 hours of delivery with photographs and a written description of the concern. Valid claims will be addressed through repair, rectification, or replacement of the specific defective element, at our discretion. This does not constitute a return and is handled separately under our warranty and delivery policies.
Enquiries and Comments
When you submit an enquiry through our website, contact us through our social channels, or interact with any published content on our site, we collect the information you share in the enquiry form along with basic technical details such as your IP address and browser information. This helps us respond to you accurately and protects our site from spam or misuse. Your profile image, where linked to your email address through a service such as Gravatar, may be shown alongside any public comments you leave on our site, in line with the privacy policy of that service.
Media and Images
If you share images with us as part of a project brief, reference, or enquiry, please avoid including images with embedded location data, such as EXIF GPS coordinates. Any image shared publicly on our website may be downloadable by visitors, and any metadata embedded in that image could be extracted from it. We recommend stripping sensitive metadata before sending us any files.

Our website uses cookies to improve your experience. If you leave a comment on our site, you may choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies so that you do not have to fill in your details again the next time you comment. These cookies last for one year. If you visit our login area, a temporary cookie will be set to check whether your browser accepts cookies; this cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. Login cookies last for two days, screen option cookies last for a year, and if you select Remember Me, your login will persist for two weeks. Logging out clears these cookies.

How Long We Retain Your Data
If you submit an enquiry or leave a comment on our site, that enquiry or comment and its associated metadata are retained so that we can maintain an accurate record of our conversation and recognise any follow up communication from you automatically. For visitors who register an account on our website, the personal information entered into the user profile is stored against that profile. You can view, edit, or request the deletion of your profile information at any time, except for the username itself. Project records and invoicing data linked to commissioned pieces are retained for the period required by Indian accounting and tax law.
